Embedded Linux for Transportation Telematics

On behalf of a large Austrian traffic technology company, FirmiX developed a concentrator device for traffic signalling systems. The combination of embedded Linux and a fanless hardware platform enables the support of more than 40 single interface lines.

The concentrator device monitors interface lines, analyzes application protocols and stores the transport network messages for immediate or delayed forwarding to centralized traffic supervision and mangement centers. Additionally, the concentrator device assists in systematic error detection and diagnosis by providing remote access to status information (e.g. the state of each interface line) and configuration parameters. The number of supported interface lines can be further increased with additional COTS terminal servers.
